Propuesta de mejora para la sala de lectura de la Biblioteca Pública de la UNLP : Desarrollo de una aplicación de realidad aumentada desde una perspectiva social de las tecnologías

| Resumen: | El objetivo de la presente práctica profesional consiste en una propuesta de mejora integral de la sala de lectura de la Biblioteca Pública (BP) de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Esta mejora abarca sus tres ejes constitutivos, la colección, los servicios y las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC). El objetivo final es lograr una mejor accesibilidad, aprovechamiento de las colecciones y uso del espacio físico y asimismo, procura alcanzar un posicionamiento y difusión de la sala de lectura (SL) que refuerce la identidad social de la BP. El objetivo específico con el cual se busca integrar estas dimensiones e impulsar estas acciones es el diseño de un prototipo de aplicación (App) para dispositivos móviles con realidad aumentada (RA). A través de esta aplicación, que se desarrollará para el sistema operativo móvil Android, se espera que lxs usuarixs accedan a dicha sala, obteniendo en tiempo real información clave sobre el ordenamiento temático de las estanterías abiertas. El usuarix obtendrá una referencia espacial de las distintas secciones temáticas ya que tendrá la posibilidad de identificar cada ejemplar, al obtener información como título, autor, año de edición y editorial. Para la implementación de esta tecnología se recurre a la perspectiva de apropiación social de las TIC, la cual entiende que toda innovación debe realizarse de acuerdo al contexto, necesidades e historia de la institución, así como de los intereses de los usuarixs. Como herramienta metodológica se utilizaron dos técnicas, una cuantitativa y otra cualitativa. Con respecto a la técnica cuantitativa, se utilizó como instrumento de recolección de datos una planilla especialmente diseñada, la cual nos permitió realizar un análisis estadístico del uso de la sala. Con respecto a la técnica cualitativa, se utilizó la entrevista focalizada para la obtención de información, en busca de comprender prácticas y preferencias de lxs lectorxs. Este trabajo concluye que con la creación de esta herramienta se facilita, de manera interactiva, el acceso a la información a los usuarixs y por tratarse de una tecnología de fácil apropiación y gratuita, incentiva e influye de manera positiva la participación, uso y aprovechamiento de la SL por parte de lxs usuarixs reales y potenciales. Al mismo tiempo, es una oportunidad de promover el rol del bibliotecarix como mediador con las TIC. The objective of this professional practice consists of a proposal for the integral improvement of the reading room of the Public Library (BP) of the National University of La Plata. This improvement covers its three constitutive axes, the collection, the services and the information and communication technologies (ICT). The final objective is to achieve better accessibility, use of the collections and use of the physical space and, likewise, seeks to achieve a positioning and dissemination of the reading room (SL) that reinforces the social identity of the BP. The specific objective with which it seeks to integrate these dimensions and promote these actions is the design of an application prototype (App) for mobile devices with augmented reality (AR). Through this application, which will be developed for the Android mobile operating system, users are expected to access said room, obtaining key information in real time on the thematic ordering of the open shelves. The user will obtain a spatial reference of the different thematic sections since they will have the possibility of identifying each issue, by obtaining information such as title, author, year of publication and publisher. For the implementation of this technology, the perspective of social appropriation of ICTs is used, which understands that all innovation must be carried out according to the context, needs and history of the institution, as well as the interests of the users. As a methodological tool, two techniques were used, one quantitative and the other qualitative. Regarding the quantitative technique, a specially designed form was used as a data collection instrument, which allowed us to carry out a statistical analysis of the use of the room. Regarding the qualitative technique, the focused interview was used to obtain information, seeking to understand practices and preferences of the readers. This work concludes that with the creation of this tool, access to information is facilitated interactively for users and because it is a technology that is easy to appropriate and free of charge, it encourages and positively influences the participation, use and exploitation of the SL by real and potential users. At the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the role of the librarian as a mediator with ICTs. |
