Colecciones digitales en línea en las Bibliotecas Nacionales de América Latina y el Caribe

| Resumen: | El presente trabajo analiza la situación de las colecciones digitales accesibles desde las páginas web de las Bibliotecas Nacionales de América Latina y el Caribe cuyo idioma oficial es el español. Las Bibliotecas Nacionales, de acuerdo con UNESCO, llevan adelante su misión de custodia de las colecciones que constituyen el patrimonio documental de cada país. Sin embargo, luego del advenimiento de las TIC, y la posibilidad de difusión de los fondos a través de la web, las Bibliotecas Nacionales pasaron a ser una vidriera de las "glorias culturales" que ostenta cada nación. En este contexto de cambios y vinculaciones no siempre equitativas, surge la inquietud de si esto será así, por lo menos para nuestra región. El trabajo se plantea caracterizar las colecciones a las que se accede a través de la web, relevar su contenido, observar qué muestran y si es posible percibir su vinculación y coherencia con las políticas de gestión de colecciones de cada Biblioteca Nacional en la que se alojan. This paper analyzes the situation of digital collections accessible from the websites of the National Libraries of Latin America and the Caribbean whose official language is Spanish. The National Libraries, according to UNESCO, carry out their mission of custody of the collections that constitute the documentary heritage of each country. However, after the advent of TIC, and the possibility of dissemination of funds through the web, the National Libraries became a showcase of the "cultural glories" that each nation has. In this context of changes and not always equitable links, there is concern about whether this will be the case, at least for our region. The work is to characterize the collections that are accessed through the web, reveal their content, observe what they show and if it is possible to perceive their link and coherence with the Collection management policies of each National Library in which they are housed. |
