Experiencias de tránsito y refugio en los judíos polacos en tiempos de guerra

| Resumen: | Desde una óptica historiográfica reciente, que busca ampliar los márgenes geográficos del Holocausto para entenderlo en su dimensión trasnacional, América Latina constituye una región clave por su papel en el salvataje de refugiados judíos. En ese contexto, el trabajo reconstruye y examina las experiencias de tránsito y refugio de los judíos polacos que recorrieron la ruta de salvación a través del Lejano Oriente, desarrollada especialmente entre los años 1940 y 1941. El artículo analiza, principalmente, testimonios de los refugiados y documentos de organismos de ayuda y socorro, especialmente del Comité de Asistencia, de Kobe (Japón). Argumenta el despliegue de memorias que podían resultar disonantes respecto a las narrativas hegemónicas de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y, por el otro, la presencia de sentimientos ambivalentes en torno a las experiencias del tránsito y del refugio. En estas páginas, indagamos, particularmente los desplazamientos de judíos polacos hacia las Américas, tomando dos casos contrastantes: Estados Unidos, principal destino del refugio judío, y México, uno de los países latinoamericanos que menos refugiados judíos recibió. From a recent historiographical perspective, which seeks to expand the geographical margins of the Holocaust to understand it in its transnational dimension, Latin America is a key region, for its role in the rescue of Jewish refugees. In this context, the work reconstructs and examines the experiences of transit and refuge of the Polish Jews who traveled the route of salvation through the Far East, developed especially between the years 1940 and 1941. The article examine, mainly, testimonies of the refugees and documents from aid and relief organizations, especially the Assistance Committee, from Kobe (Japan). It argues the deployment of memories that could be dissonant with respect to the hegemonic narratives of the Second World War and, on the other, the presence of ambivalent feelings around the experiences of transit and refuge. In these pages, we investigate, particularly the displacement of Polish Jews to the Americas, taking two contrasting cases: the United States, the main destination of the Jewish refuge, and Mexico, one of the Latin American countries that received fewer Jewish refugees. |
